Redesigning a super app used across 45 cities

We led the redesign of Yassir’s Food Delivery, Store, Courier and Grocery apps, and helped build SEFAR, the design system now behind every Yassir product.

The challenge

Yassir is a Y Combinator-backed super app for delivery, rides and financial services, with around $200M raised. Its core apps had grown fast, and engagement and satisfaction weren’t keeping up.

Four apps (Food Delivery, Store, Courier and Grocery) served customers, partners and couriers in every region Yassir operates, in several languages and in both left-to-right and right-to-left layouts. Each had grown on its own, so the experience felt different from app to app and every new feature cost more than it should.

Our role

We worked embedded in Yassir’s product organisation for two years, leading product design across the four core apps and the team of designers behind them.

  • Research with users, partners and couriers
  • Redesign of Food Delivery, Store, Courier and Grocery
  • SEFAR, the cross-platform design system
  • Leading and growing the product design team

Approach

We started from what people actually needed, then built one system so every app could get there faster.

  1. 01

    Research

User interviews, surveys and competitive analysis across markets showed where people got stuck and what they valued most.

  2. 02

    Redesign the core

Simpler navigation, streamlined workflows and clearer layouts across all four apps, for customers and partners alike.

  3. 03

    One design system

SEFAR gave every platform the same foundations, components and patterns, in light and dark, LTR and RTL.

  4. 04

    Run the team

We tightened the loop between Product Management and Design, and built a simple way to track progress, deadlines and morale.

Redesigning the core apps

Four apps, one user-centred approach.

We redesigned Food Delivery, Store, Courier and Grocery from the ground up, so each one is quicker to learn and nicer to use. Partners got clearer tools for performance, billing and navigation, so running a store on Yassir takes less effort.

The SEFAR design system

One set of guidelines and components for every Yassir platform.

SEFAR gives Yassir a consistent brand experience everywhere. It cut development time, made updates and scaling easier, and lets designers and developers iterate faster together.
